Recommended Posts

EXODUS | “Become The Traveler” Cinematic Trailer

OUR SERVICE - OUR SACRIFICE - DISCOVERS WORLDS,
SEEDS HOPE, BREAKS EMPIRES.
WE ARE THE TRAVELERS

Founders, this month we look back at the path that led us here, to Centauri. With Earth Day only weeks away, it is time to remember humanity’s legacy.

As I walk through the museum, my thoughts are drawn to our distant past.

Over 40,000 years ago humanity was forced to flee a dying world; a world that had been used and abused. Taken for granted until the open plains, the grassy fields, and the farmlands were gone; replaced by massive cityscapes of industrial high-rises, glass towers, and crowded alleyways over-run with humanity and all that goes with it, leaving little space in which to carve out an existence.

The word Exodus means departure, but for our ancestors on Earth in the 23rd century, it also meant survival. Desperate to escape their dying planet, humanity constructed a fleet of ark ships.  These massive, gleaming, technological marvels evoked both hope and fear. Many shuddered at the thought of boarding the arks to embark on a journey to an unknown future that could take decades or even centuries. But any who were given the chance seized on it despite their reservations – the ark ships offered a chance at some kind of future as Earth collapsed into an uninhabitable wasteland around us.

There were many kinds of ark ships, some were built by governments, others funded by private organizations or wealthy billionaires. However, just as important as the construction was determining the passengers and crew for each vessel. Some builders took the approach that only the best and brightest could qualify, others rejected elitism for a lottery-based system or a more balanced mix of citizens from all walks of society.

The evacuation stretched across decades, and as more and more ships departed, conditions on Earth continued to deteriorate. Dwindling resources and the inevitability of the planet’s total collapse led to the complete breakdown of society. Those not blessed with a spot on the arks often resorted to violence to try and take control of an ark ship being built… or to simply destroy it out of spite at being left behind.

Once they departed, many of these ships were lost in the void forever. But a fortunate few discovered habitable worlds in the CENTAURI cluster. Over the course of the next 25,000 years, ships filled with human settlers kept arriving. Many were drawn by the Green Signal sent by the first arrivals to guide ships to humanity’s new home in the stars. Others arrived by sheer accident… but most never arrived at all.

Few records remain from these dark days – those who made it onto one of the departing vessels don’t often speak of who was left behind. For them, the last days of Earth were a nightmare they wanted to forget. Their new life began the day they stepped aboard the ships that would carry them into the vastness of space.

The stories that emerged over time of the trials and travesties that occurred on the ships during that migration are stories told mostly through scraps of clothing, broken bolts, and journal entries; all remnants of the hopes and hardships of ark ship life. Love stories and nightmares pieced together through human remnants, now stored as valuable jewels in the cases of the Human Exodus Museum as a testament to our endurance.

Their long journey is over, but ours is just beginning. Are you ready for what’s next?

Welcome to Exodus.
