Gaikokujin Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Hello guys! I decided to replace my ISP router with my own router (ASUS RT-AX53U) in order to have better and more advanced control over my home network, especially since I have several IoT devices. If anyone has hands-on experience with a similar setup, please let me know what I should consider before replacing the ISP router and whether there is a safe step-by-step guide for doing it properly without breaking the existing network.
George Posted May 22 Posted May 22 you need to do something like this : in router settings you have to first disable wifi mode, then put router in bridge mode, you have to find out first 192.168.100.1 new login and password and then do those changes in router settings https://www.overclockers.ge/topic/56655-connect-own-router-to-silknet-gm203-7b/
Gaikokujin Posted May 25 Author Posted May 25 Hello George, Thank you very much for your reply! If I already have reserved dhcp ips for some critical devices, such as NVR for instance, after disabling DHCP and choosing bridge mode, I can basically re-reserve same IPs on new router so I don't break connection with any of reserved DHCP devices? Is it possible to get rid off silknet hardware completely and use new router directly? Appreciated in advance.
George Posted May 26 Posted May 26 you can also use DHCP reservation settings for every new device, i thing you cannot use your own router directly without bridging first original silknet router
