ოთო Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 you have fear of losing your data on desktop while formating your pc or several viral attack. If so then no need to worry because we have solution for that. You can change the location of desktop from C drive to another drive and you can protect your data in such cases. Here is how you do that. 1) Press “windows key” + “R” key then a box will appear. 2) Type regedit and hit enter. 3) Now you can see registry edit window. 4) Go to this location HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell Folders 5) Edit Desktop Entry from %USERPROFILE%Desktop to user defined directory. Example: D:My DocumentsMy ComputerDesktop 6) You are almost done now. Changes will take effect after you reboot your PC once. ( Warning: Be careful while editing registry values, your windows may crash)
